White screen
A pure white field across the whole screen. This is the field that shows dust and smears, dark pixels, tint drift and corners that sit dimmer than the middle. It also doubles as a simple, even light source.
The test
The full screen field needs JavaScript to run. Everything below still explains what this color reveals, so the page is useful either way.
White screen, full screen
Fills the entire screen with nothing else on it. Press back or escape to leave. On a television, open this page in the set's own browser and drive it with the remote.
What this field reveals
A dot that stays black on white is a dead pixel. Confirm it across colors with the dead pixel test.
Surface dirt shows clearly here and disappears when wiped, unlike a pixel fault.
Corners that look warmer, cooler or dimmer than the centre. The uniformity test steps through the levels where this shows best.
A full white screen makes a serviceable soft light for a video call or for finding something behind furniture.
Quick answer
A white screen test fills the display with pure white so anything darker than it stands out. Dark dots are dead pixels, though dust looks identical, so wipe the screen and look again. A white field also reveals tint (a panel that leans warm or cool), dimmer corners, and the faint bands of the dirty screen effect. Most panels are slightly uneven on white; the honest question is whether you can see it in normal viewing rather than only on a test field.

Questions people ask
What does a white screen test show?
Anything on the panel that is darker than pure white: dead or dark pixels, dust and smears on the glass, tint that leans warm or cool, dimmer corners, and the faint banding known as the dirty screen effect. It is the natural partner to a black screen, which shows the opposite class of faults.
Is my TV supposed to look perfectly even on white?
No panel is perfectly even. Corners are usually a little dimmer than the middle and a slight tint is common. What matters is whether you notice it while watching real content. If unevenness only appears on a full white field, the set is normal.
How do I tell dust from a dead pixel?
Wipe the spot gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Dust moves or disappears; a dead pixel does not. A dead pixel also stays in exactly the same position on every color, which the dead pixel test makes easy to check.
