Red screen
A pure red field across the whole screen. Single-color fields drive one sub-pixel type at full output, which makes faults in that channel and uneven patches far easier to see than any normal picture can.

What this field reveals
A dark dot on red that is not dark on white means the red sub-pixel has failed. The dead pixel test covers the full sequence.

A red screen test drives only the red sub-pixels at full output. Any dot that stays black on red has a failed red sub-pixel, and blotchy or patchy areas point at uneven panel or backlight quality. Red is also the channel where over-saturated shop picture modes show most obviously: if red looks like it is glowing and losing all detail, the picture mode is doing too much rather than the panel being faulty.

What is a red screen test for?
It fills the screen with pure red so only the red sub-pixels are driven. That makes a failed red sub-pixel visible as a dark dot, and it exposes blotchy or uneven areas in the panel that a mixed picture would hide.
Why does red look wrong on my TV?
Usually the picture mode. Vivid and Dynamic modes push saturation so hard that red loses all shading and appears to glow. Switching to Cinema or Filmmaker mode fixes it. If red also looks blotchy across the panel on this field, that is a uniformity issue instead.
Can a single color screen damage my TV?
Not in a short test. Any static image left on an OLED for very long periods contributes to uneven wear, so do not leave a solid field running for hours on an OLED. For a few minutes of testing there is no risk on any panel type.
