How it works
1. Open it on the TV
Find the web browser on your Smart TV or streaming device and go to tv-test.com. The page notices it is on a television and switches to a large, high contrast layout you can drive with the arrow keys on your remote.
2. Run a test
Pick a test and it starts immediately. There is nothing to install, no sign-up wall, and no waiting. Most tests are finished in a couple of seconds.
3. Check the result
You get a clear answer first, then the reason behind it, and the technical detail last if you want it. No wall of numbers to figure out on your own.

Why we tell you what we cannot measure
Plenty of TV testing sites will happily report a number they have no way of knowing. We would rather be the one you can trust.
A web page cannot measure HDR brightness in nits. It cannot tell you your panel's true refresh rate, because browsers are usually capped at 60 frames per second regardless of the screen. It cannot reliably read your Widevine security level. And it can only see what the browser supports, which is not the same as what your TV's Netflix app supports.
So we say all of that, right next to the results, instead of quietly guessing. Where a browser genuinely cannot answer, we show "unknown" and explain why, rather than inventing a figure.
Questions people ask
Why does my new TV look worse than my old one?
Usually it is the settings, not the screen. New TVs leave the factory with motion smoothing switched on, which gives films and drama a cheap, hyper-smooth look known as the soap opera effect. A punchy store demo mode, and picture edges quietly cropped by overscan, add to it. Turn motion smoothing off first, then check that nothing is being cut off. How can I tell if my TV is really 4K and HDR?
The box and the menu can both be optimistic. The TV Capability Test reads the resolution your TV actually reports, along with the HDR formats and video codecs its browser supports, and explains each one in plain language. It cannot measure HDR brightness in nits, and rather than guess it tells you so.
How do I check a second-hand or ex-display TV before I buy it?
Open the TV's own browser on the set and run four quick checks: The Dead Pixel Test for stuck or dead dots, the Backlight Bleed Test for glow in a dark scene, the TV Capability Test for resolution and HDR, and the TV Speaker Test for a rattle or a dead channel. Ten minutes tells you more than the listing does.
Is my internet fast enough for 4K streaming on my TV?
As a rule, 4K needs about 25 Mbit/s per stream and Full HD around 5, and that is per device rather than per household. The TV Internet Speed Test measures the real speed reaching the television, not a phone in another room, and tells you which quality each major service can hold.
How do I find out which Smart TV I have?
If you are not sure whether your set runs Tizen, webOS, Fire TV, Google TV or something else, What TV Do I Have identifies the platform and app store from the browser. It is honest that no web page can read your exact model number; that lives on a sticker on the back or in the settings menu.

Yes, it is free, with no account to create and no ads. Each test runs in your browser and its result stays there, so we do not receive or store your results.
